The Bel Aires 60's Show Band

The Bel Aires are a show band that specialize in the sounds of the 1960s, an era that brought us the British invasion to the Motown sound to the unique spirit of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The group is very versatile with excellent vocals, music interpretation, and a horn section that exemplifies that period music.

The history of the group began in 1966 when a few young musicians from north Georgia formed a group called The Inmates. David, Larry, Mickey and Stanley were members. They played at many sock hops, proms, teen towns and private parties in the Tri-State area and played at West Georgia College, Berry College, and Suwanee Military Academy.

The Inmates performed their final engagement at the Reid house in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1971.

In 1978, some of the old group members were contacted to perform for a high school reunion. That brought part of the old group back together and ultimately a new band called The Boys At Heart was formed. Country rock was the music of choice during that period. Anthony, David and Mickey were original members. Over the years the band evolved with Gary, Richard and Steve joining, and The Boys At Heart became a well followed band in the area, playing at many venues including country clubs, Elk Lodges, and Holiday and Ramada Inns.

They opened for such acts as The Judds, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., Loretta Lynn, Earl Thomas Conley, Tom T. Hall, Razzy Bailey, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and The Kendalls. In the early 90's, the band toured Canada and performed on an episode of Be A Star in Nashville, on the Nashville Network, and achieved second place.

In 1995, the rigors of the road took its toll and the legacy of The Boys At Heart became history.

In the spring of 2006, Anthony and David had been doing music ministry together and decided to get The Inmates and The Boys At Heart together for a reunion show. The performance came to fruition in August 2006.

Eight members of these two beloved bands are now creating a new legacy... as The Bel Aires.
